IT'S A .....

Healthy baby GIRL! We are very excited to be adding another girl to our family. Although Kai said he is going to need frequent weekends with cousin Owen to escape the estrogen. And we decided we better start a wedding savings account ASAP. Oh that's right, Matt just reminded me that they will never date so that will make it hard. Poor girls :)
Most importantly, she appeared to be healthy, for which we praise God!
Thank you to those who have prayed for our family and for this baby girl. Love you all and can't wait until July when you can say "hi" back to her. Did you see her little hand up by her face? So sweet! The girls went with us to the ultrasound and enjoyed seeing her but just wanted to know when she would really be here. They both acted like "we already knew that" when we told them it was a girl like they thought. Macy has been convinced, not swaying once from the beginning. They are so excited and I think it will be a long 5 month wait for all. They kiss my stomach and talk to her every night which I love. The verse we all memorized today is so true!
"From the fullness of His grace, we have received one blessing after another." John 1:16

Hooray for Snow!!!

Finally, a "snow day" that actually produced enough snow to play in. And thankfully, it was not too cold or windy to prevent us from enjoying the outdoors. As you can see, eating snow is so much fun!

Kai was less than enthused about being bundled up; those eyes say it all. But he did pretty well moving around through the snow. It was just too darn cold!

Makenna was a huge fan, as you can see, of the white clean snow. If only she had more than two hands, then she could eat even more snow at an incredible rate.

Macy looks so old here, enjoying a nice glob of snow. She definitely did not want to come in for dinner. We had a great time playing this afternoon. We even made it over to the park, where Macy and Makenna were able to go sled riding down a few hills. We were so thankful for a day outside!

Squeaky Clean

I don't know about you, but the thought of taking my kids to their first dentist appointment sounds about as painful and unpleasant as a root canal. But, being the responsible parents we are (or more accurately, the responsible parent Kelly is), we bit the bullet and finally set up an appointment for the girls. The nice thing about the appointment was that Kelly was able to be scheduled at the same time so that the girls could see what to expect. Now, it's been a while since I've been to the dentist and certainly as a kid, I remember the dentist as a time of torture. All the scraping and poking and gum bleeding and gagging fluoride mouthpieces. Well, times, they've been a changin. LCD monitors with cable TV at every chair. The fluoride is now painted on the teeth, instead of the mouthpieces I was forced to wear for 20 minutes. And, the girls were even rewarded with Chik Fil A certificates for being so brave. It was almost painless. The girls did an amazing job cooperating with the cleaning and flossing. Macy even sat through the dreaded scraping with the hook thing. I couldn't believe how well they both did. And they came out so proud of themselves, showing off their squeaky clean teeth. It was important for them to have a positive first experience with the dentist so that hopefully, it won't be like pulling teeth every time we have to visit the dentist. I know, physician by day, comedian by night. As they say, laughter is the best medicine.
Check out our two big girls!

My First Haircut

We were talking the other day that we have waited longer and longer for each child to have his or her "official first haircut." So, Wednesday morning with the girls at preschool, Kai had his mommy and daddy to himself and was thoroughly enjoying the undivided attention. We had had enough of the daily morning bird nest on the back of his head and decided that he needed a quick trim. So off to Clubhouse Cuts we went.

"Uh, I'd like to keep the back a little long, so just take a little off the top."

Our "all boy" immediately picked the luxury sports car, of course. He does have good taste. He also was able to see his own movie probably for the first time in his life, because he either a) defaults to what his sisters want to watch or b) couldn't sit still for more than 10 seconds to watch anything on TV. He did enjoy watching Sesame Street in his BMW.

Well, he looks like he aged by a year in that 10 minute haircut. Such a big boy! After seeing how handsome he looked, we realized just how badly he had needed a cut. Just one of the many privileges of being a third child. But, he was so proud, holding his "bloon" and "eee," which translated is anything that has sugar in it. Watch out ladies, he's already taken by his mommy!

Little Monkey

We walked into the bathroom to check on Kai. It's normal for him to be in there because one of his very favorite things to play with is a toothbrush. On this particular day, he apparently decided he needed to see his teeth in the mirror, and climbed his way right up into the sink. He was as happy as could be until...

Mommy ruined the fun and decided this probably wasn't the safest place to play and put him down. Then came the tantrum complete with kicking. He's definitely becoming a toddler through and through. :)

Cuties

The girls were being so sweet snuggling on the couch this afternoon. They are completely inseparable and their play has gotten increasingly more imaginative and entertaining to listen to.
Kai decided to join the fun, which he frequently tries to do, and usually is allowed as long as he follows their motherly direction. Unfortunately, he has found recent fun in hair pulling and hitting. Such a fun age to begin discipline :)
